Reference: Romans 8:1-2

Have you ever taken your Bible and readthe seventh chapter of the book of Romans where the apostle Paul is dealingwith the subject of sin in the flesh? You have no doubt been told by yourchurch that Paul here in these verses of scriptures is admitting to the factthat he was prone to the power of sin in the members of his body and he couldnever completely conquer it. You probably have been told that Paul was aconverted child of God when he was describing his condition with his experiencewith the law of sin in his flesh. Starting with the fourteenth verse of theseventh chapter of Romans we find Paul describing his experience when he camein contact with his true condition when he began to desire to obey God and hislaws. Within this chapter we find Paul saying that he wanted to do what wasright but he found out that he would do what was evil instead. We find thatPaul had the desire to do good but he found out that something within himcaused him to do what he did not want to do. Paul wanted to do what was goodbut he soon found out that the good that he wanted to do, he simply could notdo. He came to the conclusion that it was sin in his flesh that had the controlover his entire being. The religious world today believes that Paul never didovercome the power of sin in his life. They think that he was yet prone to sinspower although he was a truly converted child of God in this state. If thesepeople would read the twenty-fourth verse of that chapter, they would find outthat Paul cried out saying, "O wretched man that I am! who shall deliverme from the body of this death?"

If you will go a little farther in thevery next verse you will find Paul giving the glory to Almighty God through thesaving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. Paul was definitely set free from thepower of sin in his flesh, but the church today teach contrary to this truth.Every church that I know of teach that Paul in the seventh chapter of Romanswas describing his condition while he was a converted child of God being yetprone to sins power in his life. This my dear sincere friend is a lie of thedevil that will sear your conscience keeping you from the truth that willPOSITIVELY SET YOU COMPLETELY FREE.  Paulmakes it very plain in Romans 8:1-2 that he was set free from sin's power by the law of theSpirit of life which is in Christ Jesus. Paul in these verses of scripturespeaks about two laws. One is the LAW OF SIN and the other is the LAWOF THE SPIRIT OF LIFE IN CHRIST JESUS. Paul was set free from the power ofsin in his flesh and as he begins to describe how this was done, this revealedknowledge is called the law of sin. The law of sin is the reason as towhy he could not over power the sin that held him bondage. When the Spirit ofGod came into his heart and life he was then set free from the power of sinwithin his fleshly members of his body. Paul found out that his fleshly bodywas a prison and he was powerless to overcome its lusts and desires in his ownefforts and power. When anybody gets serious enough about truly desiring toserve God and to obey him, they will also come to realize that they cannot freethemselves from their natural state and sinful condition. Every true child of Godthat comes to God seeking to be truly saved will experience the very same thingthat Paul describes in the seventh chapter of Romans. They will realize thatthey can't cease from doing evil until they are set free by the power of God intheir lives. You can hear the word of truth, but unless you make personalcontact with God at the beginning of your confession of Christ, then the wordwill profit you nothing. If you truly repent of sin you will come to theknowledge that you cannot cease from doing evil until the Spirit of God comesinto your life. True repentance itself is the gift of God. The Bible says thatthe goodness of God leads one to repentance. When you repent of your ways andbegin to call upon the Lord you will experience the law of sin in your own lifelike the apostle Paul describes in the seventh chapter of the book of Romans.People today that confess religion is led to believe that Paul was in hisconverted state as he explains the law of sin and how he found out he could notcease from doing evil. False teachers thrive on this part of the scripturestelling the people that they can never be totally free from the power of sin intheir lives. They teach that the carnal nature is yet active in the convertedpersons life, but this is false doctrine because the apostle Paul makes itplain that he was delivered from the body of death that he described as beingin his natural state. People who cannot cease from sin have not been set freeby the power of the Spirit of God in their lives. False teachers teach thatPaul was in his converted state in the seventh chapter of Romans and he neverdid overcome it. Romans chapter eight makes it clear that the law of the Spiritof life in Christ Jesus made him free from the law of sin and death. When theSpirit of God comes into a persons heart they are set free from sin and theywill come to the knowledge of the truth as they continue on in the word whereall truth is revealed to them. Preachers that say a person has both the carnaland the new nature are teaching false doctrine. The old nature of the man ofsin will be completely destroyed by the truth that the gospel reveals to them. When a person repents of sin having been quickened by the Spirit of God, theywill have their minds awakened from their dead in sin condition and they willbe conscience of their every move from then on. Paul describing his experiencein Romans chapter seven, said he wanted to do good but evil was present withhim and thus bringing him into captivity of sins power that was within hisflesh. If you will try to consentrate on doing good all the time I guaranteeyou will find yourself doing something evil in a short while. This is becausethe no good thing that dwells in your flesh will war with your mind and bringyou into captivity to the law of sin in the members of your body. If you havethe desire to do what is right but find yourself doing things wrong then youlike Paul says, consents to the law that it is good. This means you do not wantto do evil but you cannot cease from it because you do not possess the power ofthe Spirit in your life to overcome its powerful influence. When Paul did evilnot wanting to do it, he said that is was no longer him that did it but ratherit was the sin that was in his flesh. He found out that he could not overpowerthe forces of evil within his own body. This is why he called his body a bodyof death. Your body of flesh loves the pleasures of sin and you within your ownpower and ability cannot overcome your own desires. The sin that dwells in yourflesh captures your mind bringing you into captivity to the law of sin. Sintakes over your body by it causing you to forget about doing good. Your mindwhen it is carnal cannot resist the temptations of evil because the law in yourfleshly members of your body will war against your mind and bring it intocaptivity to the sin that dwells in your flesh. This causes you to forget aboutdoing good and so the law of sin in your flesh takes over bringing you into thefleshly desires. A sinner automatically does things wrong because they can'tkeep consciously aware of their every move and thought.
