Scripture References: John 2:15 and Luke 20:25

As we all know, God created the heavens and all the host of them, but where God tells us not to love "the things of the world" these things were not made by God, but was rather made or invented by man. God made the matter or the material of all things, but he did not make the things of the world that he tells us not to love. You can see a stamp on some things that man made that says, "man made" which of course means that the product was made in some country or a certain city. Many people get the mistaken idea that God wants us to prosper and have the best that this world has to offer, but if that were true, then John would not have told us not to love the world and the things of the world. Paul tells us these words stated in Romans 1:30 that says, "Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents." These evil things that man has invented were made for his own pleasures causing them to be lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God. As I have said many times, these certain "things" are of the world to distract us from God keeping us separated from God in our sins. Jesus tells us these words as stated in Luke 20:21-25 saying, "And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the way of God truly: Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or no? But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me? Shew me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered and said, Caesar's. And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's."

Now we understand there are some things of this world that is alright to have and to own, but we need to understand that these certain things are needful to sustain our physical life and not to covet after things to fulfill the lusts and desires of our flesh.   Jesus tells us these words stated in Luke 12:15 saying, "And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth." Just what do we need with a lot of earthly things to sustain our life here on earth? Did not the apostle Paul tell us these words stated in   Philippians 4:19 saying, "But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." If a man would live his life in accord with his needs he would find life more satisfying and fulfilling, but to seek for things that are not really needed will only bring heartache and disappointment. We are told to lay up treasures in heaven and not on this earth, because where our treasure is our heart will be there also. So if our desires are for the things of this world only, then this will only bring sorrow and misery, because the apostle Paul tells us in I Corinthians 15:19 these words saying, "If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable." So if we want life and that more abundantly, then seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all that we need to sustain our life here will be supplied.
