Scripture References: Hebrews 9:1-8

I doubt very much that a lot of people will understand this great truth concerning what the writer of the book of Hebrews is talking about in the above scriptures of Gods holy and infallible word. This “holiest of all” position spoken of here is referring to what the apostle Paul calls “in Christ Jesus” where there is no sin whatsoever. This most holy place is where true born again children of God spiritually dwells. This subject deals with what Gods word tells us about being perfect and holy as God is himself. Did not Jesus tell us these very words in Matthew 5:48 saying, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” And does not the apostle Peter tell us these words stated in I Peter 1:16 that says, “Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” Christianity does not teach this perfection of the saints, but nevertheless Gods word is quite clear telling us to be both perfect and holy as he is. We of course cannot achieve this position without Gods word telling us how to do it. Keep in mind that God does not tell us to do something that cannot be accomplished. We must realize that without the indwelling of Christ in us we can do absolutely nothing, but we hear Paul saying these words stated in Philippians 4:13 saying, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

These things that we can do through Christ is to believe and do exactly what Gods word tells us to do. Since God clearly tells us in his word to be both perfect and holy, then why should there be any reason for us to think that we cannot achieve this perfect and holy position? To be in this holy place with God, the “way” to enter into this position was not made known to man while the first tabernacle was yet standing. The writer of the book of Hebrews reveals this truth to us in what he said above as stated in Hebrews 9:8 saying, “The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing.” This means that while the first covenant of the law of Moses was yet in effect, the truth concerning how we can be both perfect and holy was not yet revealed. Listen to what Hebrews 7:19 reveals about this that says, “For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.” The first covenant of the law that God revealed to Israel was not intended to perfect them, but notice what the last part of that verse states that says, “but the bringing in of a better hope did, by the which we draw nigh unto God.” This “better hope” was the bringing in of the “New Testament Covenant” that Jesus Christ was the mediator of. Notice that it will be this covenant that will perfect man, but it must be obeyed and believed or else it will not be of any power at all to those who disbelieve it. The word of God is the power of God unto salvation to them that believe; not to them that don’t believe it. Most people today do not believe in the doctrine of the perfection of the saints, but listen to Paul telling us these words stated in Ephesians 4:11-13 saying, “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.” If God has not opened your mind of understanding, then you don’t have a clue as to what the New Testament scriptures are for. Was not the first Adam created in a perfect and holy state not possessing any sin in his total being whatsoever? Adam did not partake of sin and evil until he disobeyed Gods command concerning the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God told Adam that he would die the very day that he did eat of it and sure enough he did eat of it and he died just Like God had told him.

Adam did not die a physical death when he ate of the tree, but rather he died a spiritual death falling into a life of sin and rebellion against God. God had already devised a redemption plan that would absolutely redeem fallen man from a life of sin and back to the state of perfection that he was first created in. It was the man Jesus Christ that came to reveal this great plan of redemption and this plan is revealed throughout his teachings of the New Testament scriptures. The Old Testament covenant that was given by Moses was not intended to perfect man, but rather it was revealed to keep sin at a minimum until Christ came to reveal the New Testament covenant. The apostle Paul reveals this great truth in what he tells us in Galatians 3:19 that says, “Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.” The law served its purpose until Jesus Christ (the seed) came on the scene. Christ’s ministry lasted about three and one half years. During this time period, the law of Moses was still in effect, but when Christ finished his ministry and died and shed his blood on the cross at Calvary, the law of Moses came to an end and now a new covenant came into power. It was the shedding of his blood that put the new covenant into power. The writer of Hebrews tells us this in what it states in Hebrews 9:16-17 saying, “For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.”

Jesus Christ was this testator and he began to reveal the contents of the new covenant to the disciples that he had chosen, which were twelve of them. All the truth of this covenant was not revealed to Christ’s disciples before Pentecost, but the remaining truths were revealed to them after the Holy Ghost descended on them on the day of Pentecost. Before Pentecost the truths of the four epistles of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, was revealed to them while Christ lived and walked on this earth, but after Pentecost there were twenty three more epistles revealed that made a total of twenty seven epistles. What Jesus said to his disciples as stated in John 16:12 proves this that says, “I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” So After the Holy Ghost was received by the disciples, the Spirit led them into all the remaining truths of his gospel. These twenty three epistles were written by the apostle John, the apostle Peter, the apostle Paul, and the apostles of both Jude and James, and the unknown writer of the book of Hebrews.
Within all these twenty seven epistles is revealed all the many truths that will perfect all who will believe and obey those truths. These truths is the spiritual “way into the holiest of all” that Gods word refers to. The apostle Paul also refers to this in what he said in Ephesians 3:3- 5 that says, “How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit.” This “holiest of all” position is what Paul refers to as being “in Christ” and the only way to be in Christ is to be baptized into Christ by the one Spirit, as Paul tells us in I Corinthians 12:13 that says, “For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.”

The Spirit does this as he leads us into all truth and its our belief and obedience to all these truths that will in time place us in Christ where we become a totally new creature in him. Anybody who does not believe in the perfecting of the saints in this life is totally void of the truth of the matter. They are not believing what Gods word has to say on this subject, because they are believing doctrines that are totally opposed to the many truths that’s revealed in the scriptures. We are warned time and time again by Jesus as well as the apostles that deception will become widespread, but most fail to heed this warning and fall prey to the many false teachings that’s being proclaimed today. All these certain teachings do not teach what true biblical holiness is and how it can be accomplished in ones life. Sin is a subject that most are not concerned about not realizing that its because of sin Christ was born into this world to take it away. In John 1:29 we find these words saying, “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” Christ takes away our sin as we believe and obey his teachings, but most fail to realize that Christ is the truth of Gods word that will totally cleanse us from all inbred sin if we believe and obey it. Listen to what the writer of the Book of Hebrews tells us as stated in Hebrews 5:9 that says, “ And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him.” Christ is the author of eternal salvation to all that will obey him; not to them that just believe on him, but this is exactly what most people do thinking their belief on him saves them. They don’t know what it means to be saved even though millions of people believe they are. To be saved means to be saved from sin; not in sin like most think and believe. Gods word has much to say about sin and you will not find one scripture saying anything good about it. Gods word tells us about the deceitfulness of sin, but most people will be deceived by it not knowing it. Deception causes a person to believe a lie thinking it’s the truth they are believing. This is exactly what the serpent in the garden caused Eve to believe. The serpent deceived her into believing that to eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil would not cause her to die, but it did. Adam and Eve both died when they are of the forbidden fruit, but it was not physical death they experienced, but rather it was spiritual death into sin that separated them from God. Christ came to this world to reveal how we can be redeemed back into perfect fellowship with God like both Adam and Eve had with God before they sinned. How to do this is entering into the most holy place, which spiritually means to be baptized by the one Spirit into the body of Christ, which is the one true church. The knowledge of how to enter into this holiest of all position was revealed to the apostle Paul throughout the writings of his thirteen epistles. This is what the “mystery” is that Paul refers to in Colossians 1:27 that says, “To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” So Paul tells us more about this in what he said in Ephesians 3:3-6 that says, “How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel.” It’s the power of the gospel of Christ that will conform the believer to the image of Christ, but that gospel has been hidden from the mind of man from hundreds of years, but is now beginning to be revealed in these last days that we are living in. This preaching of that one gospel will not only be a witness to all nations, but will prepare a people for the return of Christ for his church. Jesus spoke of this in what he said as stated in Matthew 24:14 that says, “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” This church is described in what Paul tells us in Ephesians 5:27 that says, “That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” Are you one of the members of this church or are you yet in bondage to sin thinking you have been born of God as you still manifest sin in your life against God? “He that has an ear to hear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.” Amen
