Scripture References: Jeremiah 17:9

The prophet Jeremiah describes the heart of an individual before the Spirit of Christ takes up his abode in the heart. Jesus tells us what is in the heart of an unconverted person in what he says as stated in Mark 7:18-23 that says, “And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him; Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats? And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.” All this evil and wickedness of the unconverted person’s heart is why the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked. This should reveal to you that it’s the heart that must be changed before we can truly come to know Christ as our Lord and Savior. The apostle Paul tells us these words as stated in Philippians 1:6 that says, “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

This work spoken of here that Paul refers to is of course the work that God begins and notice this work that he begins he will also complete it. Paul tells us about the same thing in what he said in Ephesians 2:10 that says, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” So its very plain to see that its God that begins and completes the work of salvation on us. So the first thing that we must realize is that its our heart that must be changed before we can get anywhere with God. Looking into the realm of the confessing Christian world today should clearly reveal to you that something is drastically wrong with its many millions of members. The problem is that they have “heart trouble” that only God can solve. By this I mean that Christianity today needs a new heart, because they still possess the same old deceitful heart that they were born with from the womb of their mother.

If they truly had a new heart, then they would not still be confessing to be born again sinners living in and committing sin daily. Does not Gods word tell us these words that was written by the apostle John in I John 3:9 that says, “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.” If they are truly born of God, then can you tell me why they still live in sin and rebellion against God even as they confess to be born of God? The reason why they still live in sin and down right rebellion against God is simply because they still possess the same old sinful heart they were born with at their physical birth. Their hearts has not been changed and the reason is simply because Christ is not truly in their heart as they think and believe. Let me show you from the holy and inspired word of God as to why their hearts has not been changed at all as they yet claim to be born of God. Do you know what Gods word says about the heart of a person that the Spirit of Christ abides in? Let me first of all tell you what Paul says about the Spirit of Christ in what he states in Romans 8:8-10 that says, “So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.” Its very plain to see here that if we have not the Spirit of Christ abiding in our heart, then we are none of his. Paul said that if the Spirit of Christ be in us, then our body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. Our body being dead because of sin means that we no longer respond to sin, but rather we respond to righteousness instead. Unless our heart has been spiritually changed by the Spirit of Christ, then we would still possess the same old deceitful heart that the prophet Jeremiah tells us about. Looking and listening closely to the multiplied millions of confessing Christians today should very easily reveal to you that their heart has not been changed and the reason why is simply because Christ does not abide in their heart and life like they think and believe.

Christ is not in their heart simply because they don’t know how to receive Christ that would make that spiritual change in their heart. They are simply told by the religious clergy just to believe on Christ and accept him as Lord and Savior, but this does not impart Christ in the heart proven by the fact that there is no change in them because they still call themselves sinners still living in their sin. Does this sound like their hearts has been changed as they still live in sin and rebellion against God? They are still sinners and they know it, but yet they believe that Christ is in them and that God cannot see their sins. They have been totally deceived away from the truth that would make a change in their heart, but most will reject the truth of it and remain in their sins and end up suffering the consequences of the second death in the lake of fire. Let me show you from Gods word what will spiritually happen when the Spirit of Christ truly comes into your life that will make a change in your heart. Do you know what happens when a person truly receives the gift of the Holy Ghost in their heart and life? Listen to what the apostle Peter has to say concerning this in what he said as stated in Acts 10:44 that says, “While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.” Now allow Peter to tell us what spiritually takes place when the Spirit comes into the heart in what he tells us in Acts 15:7-9 that says, “ And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe. And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.” Notice carefully that Peter said the “heart” was purified by faith meaning that all the evil and wickedness of the heart was miraculously purified or cleansed from within the heart. The heart being cleansed from all sin and wickedness reveals that a change has been made and the converted believer will now have a love and desire for the things of God and not to continue on in sin like confessing deceived Christians are doing today. Listen to what the prophet Jeremiah says about the heart in what he stated in Jeremiah 24:7 that says, “And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the LORD: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.” God is the only one that can give us a new heart and he does so when his Spirit comes into the heart and the love of God is shed abroad in our heart by the Holy Ghost, as Paul reveals in Romans 5:5 that says. “And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” What people needs to do is to examine themselves as Paul tells us in II Corinthians 13:5 that says, “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?” If Christ is in you and you in Christ, then the very life of Christ will be manifested in and through your mortal flesh. Paul tells us in II Corinthians 5:17 these words saying, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” Did you know that Christ can be in you without you being in Christ? At conversion we receive the Spirit of Christ and our heart is purified of all its sin and wickedness, but our body and spirit must yet undergo a work to be completely cleansed from all the filthiness of sin that indwells us. Paul tells us these words in II Corinthians 7:1 saying, “Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” Notice how Paul is saying “let us” cleanse ourselves from all the filthiness of both the flesh and spirit and thereby perfect holiness in the fear of God. We cleanse ourselves by walking in and believing and obeying the many revealed truths of the NT covenant, which are the many teachings of the gospel of Christ.

Don’t be deceived by the multiplied millions of the deceived confessing Christians that confesses to be born again as they yet live in and commit sin against God. They have a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof proven by their defeated testimony they have as they still live in sin and rebellion against God and his holy word. They claim to be born of God, but John makes it crystal clear that those truly born of God do not and further more cannot commit sin as I John 3:9 plainly reveals. They have been deceived into believing they are born again, but they yet possess the old deceitful heart that is still filled with all manner of sin and wickedness. They are nothing more than a multiplied millions of sinners calling themselves Christians, but they are not true born again Christians simply because the word “Christian” means to be Christ-like, which they are not, because Christ was not a sinner nor a preacher of sin like they are. Until the heart of man has undergone a radical change that person is headed down the road of destruction and will end up suffering the consequences of the second death in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone. Paul warns us in these words he wrote in 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 that says, “ And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power.” This is a clear warning to us all that if we fail to come to know Christ in a personal way and obey not his gospel, then we will definitely suffer the punishment of the second death. If you cannot see how the world lies in wickedness as I John 5: 19 says, then you are blind and if you are a follower of the blind, then you will end up in the same ditch that they will fall in. “He that has an ear to hear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.” Amen
