Scripture References: Ephesians 2:8

I can say without fear or doubt that nobody has ever told you truthfully that the only way that you can be saved is for you to save yourself. Does this seem to be a blasphemous and ridiculous statement to make without any truth to it whatsoever? No doubt it does sound quite ridiculous to say that we can save ourselves when the Bible clearly teaches that Jesus Christ is the only one that can save our soul. This fact is stated a number of times within Gods word, of which Titus 1:4 is one of them that says, “To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior.” The apostle Paul clearly reveals here that the Lord Jesus Christ is our Savior, so why do I say that the only way a person can be saved is to save themselves? This may seem to be a contradiction of Gods word, but allow me to explain this truth to you so you can see and understand that unless you do save yourself, then you will never be saved. Is there anything of more importance than knowing that you are saved and prepared for his return to this earth for his church, as well as being prepared for death also? Let me start by saying that when Christ came to this earth hundreds of years ago and preached the saving power of the gospel, he at that precise time as a man did not save anybody. John tells us these words stated in John 3:17 that says, “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”

Most people cannot understand how we are saved “THROUGH HIM” and not “BY HIM.” If this scripture said that we are saved “BY HIM” then I would definitely be in gross error by saying what I said in the above statements concerning this subject.. To say we are not saved “BY HIM” means that he as a man, or even as being a Spirit as he is now, did not save us by some mysterious way that cannot be understood. If you are one of the millions of people believing that Jesus saved you, then you don’t have a clue as to how he did it; you just take for granted or just believed he did by a mental concept of your mind. Believing that Jesus himself saves people is the very reason why they who believe this has not been spiritually changed at all, but are still in their sins and rebellion against God.

The greatest majority of people who believes that Jesus himself somehow saved them also believes that they had absolutely nothing to do with their being saved. This belief excludes all or any form of obedience whatsoever. And this is why they do not obey him as we are clearly told to do. Does not Gods word tell us that it’s not the hearers only of the word that will be saved, but rather it’s the hearers and doers of the word that will be saved? Let me show you how you can only be saved by saving yourself. James tells us these words in James 1:21-22 that says, “Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” Does it take a lawyer to make you understand that it’s Gods word that does the actual saving of the soul, only if we hear and do what it says? What will happen if we fail to hear and obey Gods word? Will we be saved anyhow? Listen to what Paul says about this in I Timothy 4:16 that says, “Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.” Can you not hear Paul telling us to “save ourselves” in this scripture? Did he not tell us to continue in the doctrine and by doing this we will not only save ourselves, but also all them that will hear us? The reason why this truth will be rejected by the masses is simply because they are not willing to believe and do exactly what Gods word demands of us in order to be saved. They want God to save them apart from them obeying his word that does the saving, but this is deception at its highest form. So what about you; are you saving yourself by hearing and doing what Gods word says, or are you one of the many millions of people who has a dead faith that does nothing, other than merely believing you are saved by your confession alone? What do we get if we do nothing? Do we not get the same, which is nothing? You may deny what Paul says about it to young Timothy, but Gods word will always have the final say on any subject or matter. If you are willing to take heed unto yourself and to the doctrine, which are the teachings of Christ, and continue in them, then you will save yourself and even those who will hear you. “He that has an ear to hear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.” AMEN
