Reference: Proverbs 22:6, Proverbs 13:24, Proverbs 23:13, and Ephesians 6:4
Have you ever wondered why today's youthare so rebellious against their parents, not caring what they say to them norcaring whether they live or die? Do your children tell you what to do or do youtell them what to do? Why do so many children partake of the many drugs thatseems so easy for them to aquire? Have you ever wondered why your child hasseemed to rebel against you when all the time you thought that you was so goodto them and you always saw to it that they always had what they wanted? Did youknow that there is a very definite reason why today's youth is rebellious totheir parents and won't obey what they tell them to do? This reason is revealedin the word of God but sorry to say there are not very many who wants to knowwhat God's word has to say on any subject whatsoever. Have you ever went to alibrary to find out how many books there are that is written on the subject ofchild rearing? Does it amaze you to see how many books have been written onthis important subject but yet we see so much child rebellion in the worldtoday? Have you ever read the books of child psychology and yet find yourselfwith a housefull of little rebellious monsters that won't obey a word that youtell them? My friend, you can get all the books that you can find on childpsychology and do exactly what they tell you to do and I will guarantee thatthey will still be little devils and you will not be able to handle them.
Thereis absolutely only one sure way to get your children to be obedient to you andthis way is revealed in the word of God of your Bible. (that is if you have aBible) I know for a fact that there are thousands of people today that can't doa thing in getting their children to obey them although they may treat themlike kings. Did you know my friend, thatyour giving your children everything they want is the number one way to spoilit? How many times have you whipped your child when he or she done somethingwrong? Do you whip your child with your tongue instead of your belt or switch?I can understand why many try whipping their children with their tongue becausemost people's tongue is long enough to just about do this. Are you aware of thefact that a tongue lashing is not in the least effective as compared to agood lashing with a belt or a limb from a tree? You may be the type of personthat claims to be a God fearing christian and attend Sunday school every Sundaytaking your children with you. You may attend church service every time thedoors are opened and yet have to admit the fact that you can't do a thing with your little monsters athome. What does your child do when you tell them to sit down? Do they tell youto shut up and sit down yourself? What does your child do when you tell them toclose a door? Do they tell you to shut it yourself? When you tell your child todo something does he ignore you like you don't exist? Do you correct them theright way or do you, like so many, try to correct them the wrong way? Are youaware of the fact that you can punish a child too severely? If you were askedthe question as to what you thought about whether most children are correctedtoo severely, or not severely enough, what would your answer be? Would youbelieve it if I told you that most children are not corrected severely enoughin the right way and that this is the number one cause as to why most childrenare rebellious against their parents? Did you know that all your correctionwith your children will not profit hardly more than ten percent if you yourselfdo not obey the word of God as revealed in the gospel of Christ? My friend, youcan whip your child until he gets calloused and it won't make him love you norobey you if you are not a born again child of God yourself and are obedient tothe word that the Bible reveals. The reason why today's children are rebelliousagainst their parents is simply because the parents themselves are not trueborn again children of God. How in the world can you expect a child to obey youif you don't obey the Heavenly Father yourself? The only way for a home to bewhat it is supposed to be is for that home to be God fearing christians. Theaverage home today is split and torn apart because Christ is not the one thatis the head of the home. Take a good look at the average family today and I canalmost guarantee that the women is the head of the house instead of the man.The Bible says that the women is to be in subjection to the husband, but mostwomen today would rather be dead than be subject to their husband. One verygood reason why most women rule the house is because they are married to aninety pound weakling instead of being a man that will put his own house inorder. Most women today wear the pants and tell the man what to do. Is thereany wonder why the children are so rebellious? I just about know for a factthat many people do not understand why their children do not obey them likethey should. The reason is simply because of the fact that you are not a trueborn again child of God like you think you are. Do you realize that if you arebeing deceived then you cannot raise your children in the nurture andadmonition of the Lord like it tells you to in Ephesians6:4? My friend, if things are notworking out like the Bible says that it should are you willing to admit thefact that it can't be for any other reason than saying that you are not whatyou think you are, nor where you think you are with Christ? Do you think thatGod told a lie by saying that if you train up your child in the way that heshould go then he won't depart from it? If your child is rebellious then it isbecause you have failed to train them the correct way. It is utterly impossiblefor your children to be what they should be if the parents themselves are nottruly saved. The apostles told the jailer to believe on the Lord Jesus Christand he would be saved....and thy house. Your house is your own children,but you have to teach them as you are taught from the word. If you fail to setthe example for your children then they will automatically follow a life ofsin. If you do not set the example for them by your own way of life then allyour correction of what you see them do will be in vain. You cannot teach achild by just punishing them when they do a wrong thing. Many times you havepunished your child for a wrong thing that they did when all the time they seeyou doing things wrong yourself. Your wrong living contridicts all yourcorrection on your children. How do you expect your child to grow up and notsmoke if you yourself smoke? If you are not a true converted person yourselfthen you are not a fit subject to train a child to do what is right. How can ablind man lead another blind man? You can't take out the beams in someoneelse's eye if you have some cross ties in your own eyes. You must set theexample.....
