Scripture References: 1 Peter 1:18-19
The apostle Peter in the above two scriptures makes it clear that we are redeemed, not of corruptible things such as silver and gold or any other precious metals or stones, but rather by the precious blood of Jesus Christ. Millions of people believe this, but not understanding the truth of it, they get the mistaken idea that all one need do is to believe they were cleansed and redeemed by the blood that Christ shed on the cross. To believe this is nothing more than a mental concept of the mind and will still leave you dead in your trespasses and sins. You need to understand why Christ shed his blood for us on the cross or else you will never know the truths of Gods word. In Revelation 1:5 we find John saying, "And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood." Yes we are definitely washed from our sins by his blood, but listening to what is being taught in today's realm of the religious world of Christianity you will find that they are still dead in their sins and still committing sin against God. They have no clue as to what it means to be washed from sin and how that is accomplished in our life. Just to merely believe that you have been washed from sin by Christ's blood is not the truth of the matter as Gods word teaches it. To be washed from sin does not mean that Christ's blood washes away all your sins of the past and all your sins as you continue to sin against God as long as you live. Sins committed against God is not cleansed, but are rather forgiven, but to be washed from sin means to be washed of the sin that indwells us so that there will be no more sins outwardly in your life to be forgiven of.
Christ shed his blood, but not just to forgive us our sins committedagainst him, but rather he shed his blood for the New Testamentcovenant. Most don't have a clue of knowing exactly why Christ had toshed his blood for us. The shedding of his blood does not cleanse usfrom inbred sin by continuing to ask forgiveness of sins committedagainst God as long as we live, but rather his blood was shed to putinto power and effect a new covenant that would cleanse us from inwardsin if it is believed and obeyed and thereby cut off sins flowoutwardly in our life. Just to believe that your sins are forgiven eachand every time sin is committed, this does not stop the flow of sin inyour life. You will continue to commit sin as long as you livebelieving this. This is only dealing with sin after it's committed andnot dealing with the reason why sin is being committed in the firstplace. Asking God continually to forgive you of every sin you commitagainst him does not solve the sin problem in your life. The reason whysins is being committed against God is simply because sin itselfindwells our very being that consists of a body, a soul, and a spirit. As long as sin indwells a person, that sin will continue to manifestitself outwardly in his life until Christ intervenes and destroys it.It was John that tells us these words as stated in I John 3:8 thatsays, "He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinnethfrom the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil." Notice that John tellsus that Christ was manifested to destroy the works of the devil, whichof course is sin. Christ being the truth of Gods word is what willdestroy sin in your life if you believe and obey his word. Christ cameto take away sin, but most believe today that Christ came to covertheir sins with his blood. Why in the world would God cover our sinswith Christ's blood knowing that it's sin that keeps us separated fromhim? And to think that his blood covers sin is to count the blood ofthe covenant as an unholy thing, as Hebrews 10:29 tells us saying, "Ofhow much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, whohath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood ofthe covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hathdone despite unto the Spirit of grace?"
To count the blood of the covenant, which is Christ's blood, as anunholy thing is to bring the precious and holy blood of Christ down tothe level of the unholy blood of an animal. It was the unholy blood ofthe animals that covered sin under the first covenant, but the preciousblood of Christ under a new covenant takes away sin; not cover it. Tobelieve that Christ's blood covers sin is to blaspheme Gods word bysaying his pure and holy blood was no different from the blood of ananimal, and multiplied millions of people today are believing exactlythat.. Christ's blood cleanses and takes away sin simply because theshedding of his blood put into effect the power of his gospel, andthat's why Paul could say in Romans 1:16, "For I am not ashamed of thegospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." Christ'sgospel, which are his many teachings of the new testament covenant, became the power of God unto the salvation for the souls of mankind ifhis teachings are believed and obeyed. The writer of Hebrews tells usthe same thing in what he said in Hebrews 5:9 that says, "And beingmade perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all themthat obey him." To obey Christ is to obey his teachings of the gospel. To believe and obey Gods word is what imparts salvation in a person'slife in a daily process. As long as Christ was alive on this earth andpreaching the gospel, his teachings did not become the power of Godunto eternal salvation until he shed his blood and died on the cross,In Hebrews 9:16-17 Gods word says, "For where a testament is, theremust also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament isof force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at allwhile the testator liveth." The same is true concerning a will, whichis a legal document of one's wishes after their death. When a personwith a lot of money and possessions makes out a will they state intheir will who is to inherit his estate after he is dead. Every personmentioned as an heir will receive whatever is stated in the will. Butas long as the person is alive that made out the will, his will doesnot take effect, but when he dies a lawyer will read the will and calleverybody who is mentioned as an heir to come for the reading of thewill. Whoever is stated in the will as an heir to his property theywill receive whatever the will states. So when Christ was on this earthrevealing the contents of the New Testament covenant, that certaincovenant did not come into power until after he shed his blood on thecross and died. The moment Christ died on the cross having shed hisblood, we are told these words in Matthew 27:50-51 that says, "Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. And,behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to thebottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent." What the rentingof that veil meant was that since Christ had died and shed his blood, the way into the most holy place was now made known and man could enterinto this most holy place with God. The law of Moses that was in effectbefore Christ died came to an end and now the New Testament covenanttook its place. Mankind was now under a new covenant, because Christhad died and shed his blood and thereby put the new covenant intopower. This is exactly why the death and blood of Christ provided a waythat mankind could be saved from the power and influence of sin. It'sbelieving the gospel that is the power of God unto salvation and notjust believing in his blood. Paul tells us these words in Romans 1:16saying, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is thepower of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jewfirst, and also to the Greek."
So you can believe in the blood of Christ all you want, but if youcan't see how that it was his shed blood that made the gospel the powerof God unto eternal salvation by believing and obeying it, then youwill die in your sins having never been cleansed from them and sufferthe consequences of the second death. Believing on his blood does notcleanse from sin, but believing Gods word will, which can be proven bywhat certain scriptures says about it. Look if you will at what Jesussaid in John 17:17 that says, "Sanctify them through thy truth: thyword is truth." Jesus did not say to sanctify them by their believingin my blood that was shed on the cross did he? And look at I John 1:7that says, "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we havefellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Soncleanseth us from all sin." What does just believing on Christ's bloodhave to do with walking in the light of truth that cleanses from sin?We are cleansed from sin not just by believing in Christ's blood, butas we walk in truth right? And again look at what Paul says inEphesians 5:25-26 that says, "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christalso loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctifyand cleanse it with the washing of water by the word," What does merelybelieving on Christ's blood have to do with being cleansed from sin bythe washing of water by the word of God? We are washed from sin by thewashing of Gods word revealed in the gospel of Christ as we believe andobey it; not just merely believing on Christ's blood like millions arethinking and believing today. What people are being blinded from is notknowing the difference between being forgiven of sin and to be cleansedfrom sin. To be forgiven of sin does not wash us from sin. God forgivessins that's been committed, he does not wash them with his word; theyare forgiven and forgotten. To be cleansed from sin is not done byasking God to forgive you, but rather by asking to be forgiven and thento walk in the light of truth that does the cleansing of inward sin. Towalk in truth will cleanse and destroy the root of sin that was deeplyrooted in every person born into this world from the womb of theirearthly mother. This what Jesus meant when he said these words statedin Matthew 23:25-26 that says, "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of theplatter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. Thou blindPharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, thatthe outside of them may be clean also." This "cup and platter" isreference to your inward being where sin resides. We are to cleanse"first" the sin that indwells us. But instead of this being done in thereligious world today, the deceived clergymen teaches their millions ofconverts to deal with sin after it's been committed by continuing toask God to forgive them of their committed sins for as long as theylive. This does not get to the root of the sin problem, and no problemis solved unless you get to the root of it. You can only solve the sinproblem in your life in the same way you can solve a weed problem andthat's by destroying the roots of the weed with a weed killer, right?
In order to solve the sin problem in your life, you must believe andobey Gods word. To believe and obey Gods word will in time destroy theroot of sin within you and eventually sin will be cut off and sin canno longer continue to flow outwardly in your life, as I John 3:9 saysthat says, "Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seedremaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God." Theseed that remains in us is Gods word, which is Christ in us the hope ofglory. It will be the seed words of Christ that will produce the verylife of Christ within us and will be the life of Jesus manifested inand through our mortal body, as Paul reveals in II Corinthians 4:10-11that says, "Always bearing about in the body the dying of the LordJesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, thatthe life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh."This very life of Christ can and must be manifested in and through you,or else die in your sins and suffer the dire consequences of the seconddeath in the lake of fire. It was the precious blood of Christ that wasshed on the cross at Calvary that made his gospel, which are his manyteachings, the power of God unto this eternal salvation. But if youcontinue believing that's it's a mere belief in his blood that savesand cleanses you from sin, then all I can say is that may God grant yourepentance to the acknowledging of the truth of the matter before it'sto late. He that has an ear to hear, let him hear what the Spirit issaying to the churches...amen
