Reference: Matthew 7:1-5
The definition for the word hypocrisymeans to do things under pretense. If you pretend to be something that you arenot then you are what the Bible calls a hypocrite. There are many people whoprofess to be something when actually they are not. In the realm ofchristianity is the worst place that hypocrisy is practiced. If a person confessesto be a christian and tries his or her best to convince others that they arethen these people are most likely to be a hypocrite.
A hypocrite is best known by theirattitude they manifest. Jesus said that the hypocrite does things in such a waythat they want people to recongnize them. If you are the type of person thatwants to be seen and heard by trying to be the life of the party, then you areperfect to be one that practices hypocrisy. There are many people that arehypocrites without them knowing it.
These type of people have been deceivedinto thinking and believing that they are something when actually they are not.A person can be very sincere in their confession of being a christian but canyet be proven to be a deceived hypocrite. A deceived hypocrite confesses to bea child of God, but the truth of God's word is what proves them to beotherwise. If a person believes a certain doctrine in such a way that the Bibledoes not reveal it, then that person would actually be deceived thinking thatthey don't know the truth of the matter.
To teach or preach a false concept of adoctrinal subject will cause a person to be a hypocrite without their knowledgeof it. There are many thousands of people in the world today confessing to bechristians and most of them are part of a movement that tries to convert otherpeople to their way of belief. If you attempt to convert a person to your wayof belief then according to the word of God you are a proselytizer. Toproselyte someone means to try to get them to believe what you believe.
A true christian will convert people toChrist and not to their own way and ideas. Looking at all the denominationalorganizations in the world today and you can see that each one is very activein trying to convert people to their way of belief. Jesus made the statementthat we are to get the beam out of our own eye before we attempt to remove themote out of our brother's eye. Now I would say that most of the converts intoday's churches are aware of the fact that they first must confess to be achristian before they try to convert someone to their church group.
The average church today has missionaryprograms somewhere in the world. They send what they call a missionary to somecountry overseas to proclaim what they believe to be the gospel. Each and everydenomination has their missionaries in many different countries preaching thedoctrine that their church stands for.
The same is true in this country. Eachchurch has a meeting one or more times a week inviting anyone who wants to comeand take part with them. All that is required to become a member of one of thedenominational churches is just to confess that you accept Christ as your ownpersonal Lord and Saviour and they will then count you as being a christian andone of them. After you become a member of their church they expect you to takepart in their services and try to convert others like you were converted.
All that you have to do is to tell peopleto accept Christ as their Lord and Saviour like you did. Looking at all theprograms that every denominational church is involved with in trying to getpeople converted to their organization easily proves them to be deeply involvedin hypocrisy.
I say this simply because of the fact thatevery member of every organization will spend a multiplied number of more timetrying to convert a person to their way of belief than they did on themselveswhen they confessed to become a christian. The average confessing christiantoday is attempting to remove the mote out of their brother's eye withoutrealizing that they have a beam in their own eye.
Jesus used the word mote when he said thata person will try removing from their brother's eye because mote is a smallparticle whereas a beam is a very much larger object. If a person fails to getthemselves in a righteous standing with God and attempts to get someone else ina righteous standing with God then they are failing to see the beam in theirown eye like Jesus said.
Trying to tell people how to get rightwith God without me being right with God is proving myself to be a hypocrite. Iwould be trying to remove the mote, which is a smaller object, from someone'seye while all the time I would have a beam or a larger object to remove in my owneye. This is exactly the condition of the church world today. They are tryingto remove a mote from the peoples eye while all the time they have a beam intheir own eyes. Many of them don't realize it because they have been deceivedthinking they are born again christians on a mere confession on Christ as Lordand Saviour alone.
They put a thousand times more time intheir efforts of trying to convert the world than they did on their own selves. If more people would spend more time examining their own lives instead oftrying to tell someone else of their sins, then I am sure there would be morepeople coming to the knowledge of the truth than there is.
The Bible plainly reveals that we are towork out our own salvation with fear and trembling, which of course means thatwe must present ourselves unto God as a living sacrifice, holy, and acceptablein his sight. The apostle Paul tells us that our own obedience must first befulfilled before we take revenge on someone else's disobedience. (II Corinthians 10:6)
Since the world has been led to believethat becoming a christian is done in an instant of time when confession onChrist is made, then it's plain to see how they are being deceived and becominga deceived hypocrite instead of a plain outright hypocrites knowing they arewrong. A deceived person is just as lost as an outright sinner that does notconfess christianity. The church world today is full of zeal trying to convertthe entire world simply because they have the advantage like the apostle Judesays in Jude 16.
Jude speaks of those who walk after theirown lusts and their mouth speak great swelling words having men's persons inadmiration because of advantage. The church world has the advantage becausethey can speak so well and they teach the easy way that leads to destructionand not the strait and narrow way that leads to life. Man in his deceived stateis full of vanity and pride. This is why the church today seems to be so fullof zeal to convert the world to their belief.
Atrue child of God will sometimes get the idea that they are the one in errorseeing how zealous the religious world is compared to themselves. The truthwill be despised and rejected by the religious world, but the true seed of Godwill not be seduced and consumed by false prophets.
