Scripture Reference: 1 John 5:13
Are you one of the many millions of people that is believing you have eternal life? Is your belief based on what you think the apostle John says in the above verse of scripture? If you believe that John is merely saying that you have eternal life just because you believe on Christ, then you are misunderstanding what he said. What John says in I John 5:13 is the same thing that he reveals in John 3:16. Did you know that John 3:16 is the one of the most misunderstood scriptures in the entire word of God? Let me show you what the greatest majority of confessing Christians today think that John 3:16 says. They think this verse of scripture says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him (SHALL NOT OR WILL NOT) perish, but have everlasting life." But the words "shall" and "will" is not found written in this verse is it? John 3:16 says that whosoever believes in him "SHOULD NOT PERISH" but have everlasting life right? Now if John 3:16 said, "whosoever believes in him "will not" perish" then that would be the truth of the matter, but it does not say that. And if it said, "whosoever believes in him "shall not" perish then that would be the truth of the matter, but again it does not does it? So what does it mean when John said that whosoever believes in him should not perish? Let me first of all show what it means when John said that those who believes in Christ should not perish.
Now if you sincerely believe in the person of Christ, truly believing that he is the Son of God, and that he died, and was buried, and rose again the third day, and that he died for our sins; are you aware of the fact that believing these things has absolutely nothing to do with obeying him? Now make no mistake about it we absolutely must believe that he is the Son of God and died and was buried, and rose again, and that he did die for our sins, but surely you know that believing this has nothing to do with obeying him right? Now let us look at the scripture of Hebrews 5:9 that says. "And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him," Notice how this scripture tells us that Christ is the author of eternal salvation, not just to them that believes in him, but rather it's crystal clear that he is the author of eternal salvation to them that "OBEY" him, right? So are you one of the millions today saying you believe in Christ, but that does not obey him as well? Have you been told by your church or denomination that you have eternal life by just believing in Christ and that he is the Son of God, and died, and was buried, and rose again the third day, and that he died for your sins? Would you please tell me what that has to do with obeying him? Do you know what it means to obey him, and how to obey him, and why you must obey him? Can you not see that just to believe on Christ in the manner, that I have stated above, this does not impart eternal life unto you?
If you will look again at I John 5:13 that says, "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." Do you positively know that you have eternal life, or do you just merely believe you have eternal life? Did you not know that to believe you have eternal life and to know you have eternal life is very much two different things? Why do you believe you have eternal life? Is it not based merely on your believing you have it because you believe in Christ and that he is the Son of God, and he died and was buried and rose again, and that he died for your sins? Is this all we have to believe to have eternal life? Do you think that obeying him has nothing to do with eternal salvation?
If so, then why is Christ the author of eternal salvation to them that obey him as Hebrews 5:9 says? Does this scripture say that Christ is the author of eternal salvation to them that just merely believes in him? Do you know what the results of salvation is? In other words, what does having eternal life do for us spiritually? I John 5:12 says these words saying, "He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life." Do you realize that the only way you can know you have eternal life is to know what the things are that John mentions in what he said in I John 5:13 that says, "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." John is saying that if you believe on the Son of God, and believe the things that he has written, as well as what the other apostles have written, then these are the things that will thoroughly convince you that you do have eternal life.. But if you believe you have eternal life by merely believing on Christ, and that he is the Son of God, and he died, and was buried, and rose again, and that he died for your sins; then can't you see that believing these things alone will only cause you to believe you are saved, which is nothing more than a mental concept of your mind? Saved people are the only people that has eternal life, but are you aware of the fact that to be saved means to be saved; not in your sins, but rather from your sins? Did not Christ come to take away sin, as John 1:29 tells us saying, "The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world."
Christ takes away sin; his shed blood does not cover sin like millions believe today. If you believe you are saved in your sins still committing sin, then you do not have eternal life abiding in you. The results of salvation in a saved persons life is a life without sin, which is a truth that nearly every confessing Christian today denies. Deny it all you want, but does not John tell us in I John 3:9 these words saying, "Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
Being saved and being born again means the same thing. So if you claim to have eternal life and still live in sin, then you are deceiving yourself. The reason why millions are believing this is simply because a mere belief on Christ alone does not impart eternal life, but to them that not only believes in him, but also obeys him, these are the people that has eternal life. :ppl what Paul reveals in II Thessalonians 1:7-9 that says, "And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power." Are you obeying the true gospel or are you believing a gospel that only tells you that you are saved by believing on Christ like millions are believing today? The true gospel of Christ that saves are all his teachings revealed in the scriptures of the New Testament covenant, but the beginning of it to the end of it. He that has an ear to hear; let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches..Amen
